I've always been a person who was particularly interested in self expression. Growing up as a shy kid, I never really was comfortable standing out until I got to college and everyone was so different from each other. There were still cliques, of course, but this was the first time I could do whatever I wanted to do, and my focus changed from fitting in to being happy.
In the last year, I started to discover fashion. I started wearing new clothes that made me stand out because they weren't the traditional off the rack clothes. New combinations and new styles that I could invent became appealing, because I could finally do something that expressed how I was feeling at the core.
I think the beauty of fashion is that it's a part of self expression. It's like creating music. It doesn't really matter what other people think about what you wear as long as it makes you happy. While there are appropriate settings for different types of clothing, there's a lot of freedom, whether it's crazy socks, accessories, sunglasses, a cool new jacket. It's freedom.
